Staycation Benefit #1: Avoid the Hassles of Travel

One of the obvious benefits of a staycation is that you eliminate the stress of travel. You don’t have to spend time looking around for hotels, planning routes, researching destinations, nor planning an itinerary. Nor do you have to spend time packing your bags.

Worrying about making sure you have all other things you might need while you are away would also be something you will also be free from. You are also free from worrying if you will have sufficient and accessible funds throughout your trip.

Some other things you might also be glad to forego are making arrangements to get to and from airports. The same applies to spending time in airports, and worrying of how delays will affect the rest of your plans.

Staycation Benefit #2: Retain the Excitement of Planning

Some of you may have heard that the most exciting part of a vacation is actually the planning stage. But who said you cannot plan for your staycation? In fact, you should. This way, you will ensure getting the most out of your vacation.

You can plan visits to local destinations or research what activities will be offered in an area near you.  Or perhaps you might choose to go camping in your backyard, have a dance-along to your favorite music, or try out local eateries you have not tried before.

The beauty is that the planning will likely be less stressful because there are less unknowns. You know that you will be spending more time relaxing and doing the things you find enjoyable. Had you been on a go-away vacation, you would need to be more mindful of sticking to daily schedules.

Staycation Benefit #3: Spare Your Bank Account

Despite some possible local splurging, another one of the benefits of a staycation is that you will likely end up saving money.

You will save money that would have otherwise been spent on air travel and ground travel. You will also save money on lodging and likely also food and merchandise. (These things are usually more expensive in touristic destinations.)

Decreased spending also means less stress as depleting your savings can itself be stress inducing. And, as you might agree, decreasing stress is priceless and in line with the purpose of why most take off from work.

Staycation Benefit #4: Accomplish Rewarding Tasks

Another of the benefits of a staycation is that the staycation is a perfect time to do accomplish some of those things in your to-do list that are important for you. While not doing anything productive might have a relaxing effect on you, other times accomplishing things that are important to you can be equally, if not more, relaxing and energizing. Unfortunately, in your day-to-day life, it might be difficult to get to some of those items in your to-do-list despite their importance to you. This is often due to time constraints of your busy schedule.

A staycation can be the perfect time to tackle such items. This could be as simple of doing a fun activity such as riding your bike on a trail you’ve never tried before or catching up on movies or books. It could be completing a home improvement project, rearranging your office space, or learning how to cook special dishes. Alternately, it could be the perfect time to jump-start a more ambitious project, such as start to write that book you have always wanted to write, or that business you have long been planning to start.

Staycation Benefit #5: Be Free to Either Stray or Mingle

A staycation allows for much more flexibility in terms of arranging quality time with those love. If you were going on a go-away vacation, you might feel guilty of not taking those you love with you. But it can be difficult to get everyone to take the same time off from their busy schedules. It can even more difficult to get everyone to agree on the places you will visit and the things that you will do. With a staycation, all your loved ones have the flexibility to partake in activities of their own interest and at their own schedule, while you also have increased availability to schedule some common time and activities together.
